20 Celebrities Whose Romances Bridged The Age Gap

It’s said that age is just a number. On the one hand, this seems to be a notion celebrities often reject. Some of our favorite stars are notorious for being coy or downright lying about their age. In an industry that places enormous value on youth and the beauty that so often accompanies it, who can blame them?

On the other hand, one area where celebs don’t seem to care about age is in their love lives. Many celebrity couples don’t let generational differences stand between them, pairing up with people 10, 20 or more years their junior or senior.

Check out this list of celebrity couples with a major age gap between them.

Steven Tyler and Aimee Ann Preston

Steven Tyler has had several big romances in his life. He married his first wife, a model named Cyrinda Foxe in 1978. They divorced in 1987, a year before the birth of his current long-term flame (and former personal assistant), Aimee Preston. There’s a 40-year age gap between the two. Preston is more than a decade younger than Tyler’s two famous daughters, actress Liv Tyler and model Mia Tyler.

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise

Cruise had been in the public eye for more than two decades—and previously married to Mimi Rodgers and Nicole Kidman—when he famously appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2005 and jumped up and down on a couch because he was so in love with former Dawson’s Creek star Katie Holmes.

A year later, the couple welcomed a baby daughter named Suri, and they wed later in 2006. Though the fairytale ended in divorce in 2012, it certainly began on a happy note. Holmes reportedly told Seventeen (via E! News) that when she was younger she dreamed about marrying the Top Gun star, who is about 17 years her senior.
