Stepmothers in popular culture have a pretty bad reputation of being evil witches. Obviously, there are many wonderful stepmoms out there who lovingly dote on and help raise their stepchildren, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some real-life evil stepmothers as well.
On November 25, 2015, police were called to the home of Michael and Heather Jones for a domestic disturbance. While investigating that incident, officers learned the couple’s son, seven-year-old Adrian, had not been seen for months. A few days later, police served a search warrant on the property and found human remains in the barn. DNA testing confirmed it was Adrian. Though little information was released, the district attorney revealed the little boy had been horribly abused, neglected, and his body fed to pigs. Officials said it was one of the worst things they had ever seen.
Heather Jones, 30, pleaded guilty to murdering her stepson and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for 25 years. Michael, 45, was charged with first-degree murder and is currently awaiting trial.
